June 14, 2009

The last Won Bass tournament was fished Saturday June 13th, 2009 and again Duane and I were left hanging.

Blast off time was 5:37 am and we were in the first flight coming in at the end of the day with a minute to spare.  We had 18.28 pounds and so did another team!  So how do they handle a tie?  The way Brett Smith handled it was to break the tie with the team who had the biggest fish.  You see that wasn't us but we had 5 good quality fish all about 4ish.  If we had their big fish we would of won the tournament. So you can imagine how we were scrambling at the last hour of the day continuing to find at least a 7 pounder which never happened. Isn't that fishing!

I wanted to see the rules about breaking a tie so I looked up the "Regulations/Rules" on the Won Bass website and was surprised to find that Brett shouldn't of left us hanging.  According to the rules the $$$ should be split between the two teams with the same weight.  So now what?  I called Brett on the phone and he apologized for the error and is going to send us a check for half.  Hey $70 is still $70.  That pays for the fuel and all the soap we are going to be buying to wash the green algae covered boat. YUCK!

So once again we missed out on the awards ceremony...not even a clue as to who the other team with the same weight was...."hello, it was us." Oh Bret....we still  think you do a great job with the tournaments. And once again....we need to hustle!!

Duane and I still think that it is interesting how the top winners  get more money with Brett Smith  then when Gary Watts was running the tournaments. Hum....where did all that money go?

Until next time... Keep on fishing!
